MP Response to “The Letter”

Before sending “the letter” to our local MP I waited until I had seen Mr Mans CPN, to see who else he thought I should send a copy to. Last Thursday I posted four copies: one to our local MP; one to the Acting Manager for our local Community Mental Health Team; one to the Chief Executive of Mental Health in our area; and one to the Director of Mental Health in our area.

Today I received a reply from our local MP which read as follows:

Dear [Mr Mans Wife],

Thank you for your letter dated 15th March 2007.

I am so sorry to hear of your difficulties but thank you for bringing them to my attention.

I have written to the Secretary of State for Health, Mrs Patricia Hewitt MP and to Mr [A N Other], Chairman of [our area] NHS Trust. I will of course contact you again as soon as I receive their responses.

Yours sincerely

Well, I finally know who this “Patricia Hewitt” person is anyway…

I'm glad that you sent it, and that's great that you already got a reply of some sorts. The reply may be a sort of holding letter, but at least the response shows that someone has opened it and read it! I hope that this is a good sign of things to come regarding their communicating with you. Fingers crossed...

good your MP has read your letter, but i wouldnt hold you breath for a responce from patsy hewwitt, she should do us all a favor and leave office. Dr Crippen had reported she has emerged from the bunker she has been hiding in for quite a while but i would also be scared with all the junior docs after her head and most the NHS staff aswell, hope all is well

Thanks Slurry. I'm sure if I had written to her personally I wouldn't get a response, but hopefully she will have the courtesy to reply to a fellow MP, even if it's just to say "Get off my back already! We've already churned £33 million into a New Deal for Carers!"

Hmmm... so where is it? Oh yes... that'll be all those Chief Executives and Directors wages...

Lol, I missed that one! I was reading earlier about a 50 year old April fools joke, where Panorama made a program about spaghetti trees! And people fell for it!

I'll have to do an update about some of the responses I've had to the letter, but I didn't want the whole blog to be only about that!

Glad you're doing ok. We're not too bad thanks, apart from Mr Mans anxiety, but at least Mark is taking that seriously now. More about that soon in a blog post...

Crusty, thank you very much for your kind comments. Unfortunately I’ve been quite unwell recently and so I haven’t been doing much writing, but hopefully there will be more to read very soon!
